restorative forward fold


Benefits:
  • Increases hip mobility
  • Restorative qualities

Cues:
  • Start in a comfortable seated position with your legs extended out in front of you
  • Lengthen your spine and have your hips in a neutral position
  • Place one or two bolsters on top of your legs.
  • On an inhale feel the spine lengthen
  • On an exhale fold forward at your hips placing your upper body on the bolster(s)

Common Errors:
  • The legs are extended to a point where you are feeling an intense stretch​
Modifications:
  • ​To allow the hips to be neutral you can place your sit bones on a small foam block or cushion

Cautions:
  • ​Back pain
Alternative Poses:
  • Restorative Child's Pose
  • ​Dangle
