Butterfly legs up the wall


Benefits:
  • Increases hip mobility
  • Benefits lymphatic system
  • ​Restorative qualities

Cues:
  • Start in legs up the wall
  • Place the soles of your feet together allowing the hips to externally rotate and the knees to come out wide
  • ​You should feel a stretch through your inner thighs, but the intensity should be at a point where you can allow yourself to completely relax

Common Errors:
  • The stretch is too intense
Modifications:
  • You can place a bolster or small foam yoga block under your lower back

Cautions:
  • Back pain
  • Hip pain
Alternative Poses:
  • Reclined butterfly
  • Heart bed with butterfly legs
